LYS
is particularly fond of the restoration of classic yachts, undoubtedly
due to the many years spent on those great sovereigns of the sea, with
the sole objective of taking care of them.
The construction of a vessel of magnificent lines, technically timeless
in its perfect ability to navigate the seas in some cases for over a
century is quite undoubtedly an accomplishment akin to an art. Working
on a classic vessel is extremely complex and requires a high degree of
professionalism, sensitivity and – yes, passion.
It is difficult to combine the need to maintain the feel and character
of a classic yacht with the adaptation to the owner’s needs so that he
can fully enjoy time spent on board.
Fortunately there are shipyards that carry out this work with great
capacity and care and
LYS have established relationships with such facilities..
Of fundamental importance is the preliminary phase that involves
research on historical material concerning the vessel in question:
photos, drawings, and, if possible, test, surveys, and analyses
enabling these professionals to get to know the vessel and understand
what modifications have been carried out over time. This results in a
deep commitment to research into original details and appropriate
materials, so as to keep, insofar as possible, within the designer’s
specifications. Finally, the actual work is carried out using the
latest technologies and the highest degree of skill placed at the
service of these ancient sovereigns of the sea to ensure that they can
recapture their former splendour.
